Article: Intermodal Poland 2024
Meet our Director Sales Single Container Gleb Shilov at the upcoming Intermodal Poland 2024, which will take place from 12.-14. June 2024 in Malaszewicze, Poland.
Gleb Shilov will participate as a speaker in DEBATE: Middle Corridor and the development of economic cooperation between Europe and Central Asia on 12. June 2024, from 11:30 til 12:45.
The Intermodal Middle Corridor connecting the Central Asia region with Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey and the European Union has been enjoying increasing interest from logistics companies and their customers since the Russian invasion of Ukraine as an alternative to transcontinental connections via Russia. The European Union and financial institutions intend to invest 10 billion euros in the coming years to unblock the Middle Corridor infrastructure. China and the governments of countries in the region are also allocating large investments in infrastructure projects in the region. However, there are doubts whether the route can be a cost-efficient alternative to transport via the traditional Northern Corridor, as well as maritime transport from China to Europe in terms of transit time and costs. On the other hand, trade between the European Union and the countries of Central Asia has been growing in recent years.
So what will be the role of the Middle Corridor in the coming years? What impact does the policy of Russia, China, Turkey and the European Union have on its functioning? What are the prospects for economic cooperation with Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and other countries in the region? How do these countries look at the prospects for cooperation with Poland and the European Union?
