Message from the Board
Deutsche Bahn has been active on the Eurasian corridor since 2008 in order to meet the growing demand for block trains and individual containers between China and Europe. What initially began as a project-based solution developed into a regular and reliable service by 2011 – and thus became an integral part of modern, intercontinental logistics chains.
DB Cargo Eurasia assumes the role of DB operator and provider on the Eurasian corridor. Together with our newly founded subsidiary DB Cargo Transasia, we form the network of DB Cargo structures from the eastern EU external border. In this way, we ensure that rail freight transport within the DB Cargo network is continuously supplied with transport volumes to and from China and is seamlessly integrated into European logistics chains.
The transcontinental rail connections between China and Europe offer our customers a competitive and environmentally friendly alternative to time-consuming sea freight and cost-intensive air freight. Especially in an increasingly volatile global environment, we are thus making an important contribution to resilient, sustainable and predictable supply chains.
Together with our partners along the Eurasian corridor, we are continuously working to further develop our services, improve quality and reliability, and strengthen rail freight transport as an efficient bridge between the economic regions of Europe and Asia.

Andreas Lübs - Managing Director
Andreas Lübs, Managing Director of DB Cargo Eurasia, dedicated his entire professional life to finance before being appointed Manging Director of DB Cargo Eurasia in September 2021.
After studying business administration at the University of Rostock, he started his professional career at the auditing firm Arthur Andersen. One of the consulting projects led him to DFO Deutsche Fährgesellschaft Ostsee mbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn, where he joined in September 1993 as Head of Controlling.
For the next 16 years, this company, which later merged with a Danish partner shipping company to form the Scandlines Group, was to be his professional home. After Andreas Lübs had earned the position of CFO of Scandlines AG, he moved to the United Kingdom in 2009 and took over responsibility for the finances of DB Cargo UK as CFO. Another 5 years later, his path took him to Transfesa in Spain. There, Andreas Lübs was also responsible for finance.
In September 2018, he returned to Germany and has since been working with his colleagues on the development and expansion of DB Cargo's rail freight operations on the Eurasian corridor.
As his career already suggests, he very much enjoys the international logistics business with all its facets and challenges.
Andreas Lübs is married and has an grown-up son.
